Say ‘No’ to ISA
THE PARISH of
the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Penang, led by
the Parish Priest, Fr Francis Anthony and Assistant Parish Priests, Fr Fabian
Dicom and Fr Henry Rajoo, take a firm stand that the ISA (Internal Security
Act) is a law that Malaysia
can do without.
The parishioners together with their pastors have the moral courage
to display a huge banner declaring “Say
No to ISA” and another banner inviting people to “LIGHT a candle & say A PRAYER put YOUR FAITH into ACTION!”. Both banners are visible from the public road
leading to the Cathedral. Groups of
parishioners actively sell to fellow parishioners, tee-shirts, badges and
literature denouncing the ISA.

A litmus test for Barack Obama’s presidency will be the daunting task of resolving the various conflicts in the Middle East. Many Muslims around the world – from Europe to Malaysia – have high hopes for a US president with some Islamic connection to rectify all the wrongs that the Bush administration had done in the Muslim heartland, but the recent offensive by Tel Aviv has clearly complicated the issue.

GIVEN that God is One, of three divine Persons, each Person is distinct and unique and yet there is but one God, God therefore is community. And the Church, being the fruit and child of the Holy Trinity, and the Church being Christ’s Body, that Church is called to be a Trinitarian community. As each of the divine Person is unique, so too each member of the Church is unique, yet together constitute community.

I fully support His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI's statement that the Church is defending life and promotes human dignity as it is the integral way for the benefit of all.
