There have been claims that for the church to achieve administrative or functional efficiency, corporatisation is the answer. Is this consistent with the theology of church?
The question here is really a pastoral not theological issue. Functionally and administratively, the Church has evolved through history. In the New Testament period, the Church was not really prepared for an indefinite stay in history until this was realised towards the end of the first century C.E. Monepiscopacy – the regional rule by a single bishop – emerges where the earlier rule of the bishopric was together with a presbyterate body since it was more localised. |
